Artimacy [ART•ə•mə•sɪ]: a close or warm friendship with the offspring of human creativity; a feeling of belonging together with the genesis of beautiful or significant things.
This podcast endeavors to go deeper than what the eyes can see and what the ears can hear. It is truly where art and intimacy collide, providing an in-depth view of what inspires the artist to create. “Artimacy” with K. Charles (a.k.a. Keanna Faircloth) is a two-hour program that spotlights jazz music — and beyond — and features artist interviews. Come take an intimate journey into the heart, mind, and soul of the creative.
Keanna Faircloth began her career in broadcasting in 2003. In 2018 she created the podcast, Artimacy, which she describes as a platform, “where art and intimacy meet.” The podcast is a two-hour program that spotlights music from Jazz to Soul, and beyond, and features artist interviews airing every Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on DC Radio 96.3 HD4. Most recently, she served as the host of Afternoon Jazz on WBGO 88.3 FM in Newark, NJ. While at WBGO, Keanna created and produced the widely acclaimed interview series, The Pulse.
Keanna grew up in Washington, D.C. surrounded by music and would go on to study music history and classical piano at Howard University. While a student, she began her jazz radio journey at WPFW where she was a host for 16 years. She has worked for Urban One, NPR, WHUT, and numerous online media platforms as an on-air host and writer. The culmination of her work led to her being named a “Future African American Leader in Radio” by Radio Ink Magazine in 2019. To date she has amassed literally hundreds of interviews and hosted festivals both nationally and internationally — from the DC Jazz Festival to the NYC Winter JazzFest, to JazzFest Berlin. She has been featured in The New York Times, on NPR’s Here and Now, and is a contributing writer for NPR Music.
